She's Officially a BIG Girl Now

Friday night, Reese was invited to a camp out
spend the night birthday party for a friend that she met at pre-school last year.  We went to WalMart a couple of days before and got her her very first sleeping bag--a Princess one of course!  She loves it!!! She had to carry it through the store to the check out line.  She was mighty proud of it.

had to get a picture of me and the big girl before she left
(please excuse the mess in the background!)

When I told her about the party, she was VERY excited, but I made sure to explain exactly what the whole camp out would be like.  Until Friday, she had NEVER spent the night away from us.  I made sure I told told the mom in charge that because I just really had no idea how Reese would react when it would be time for everyone to go to sleep.  I had a list of our phone numbers ready because I just knew that we'd be getting a call in the middle of the night.  (My mom always had to come get me early from spend the night parties).  Anyway......we weren't called at all!!!  She made it through her very first sleep over.  I told Warren that part of me was really glad that she made it through and did so well, but that another part was kinda hoping to be called.  Now that she made it, it just showed me how she truly is growing up on us.

Maggie and Anna were feeling a bit left out so we had to get a picture with them, too
notice the sleeping bag and flashlight?--she was ALL ready to go!!!

Mother Goose Parade

The kindergarten classes at Central have a Mother Goose parade every year. And this year, it was Reese's turn to be 'Jill' from "Jack and Jill." DamDam found her a sweet little dress, and we got her a galvanized pail for her to fetch her water in. She was also responsible for reciting the rhyme! She knew it so well!!!

The classes paraded all through the school. I think some of the little ones got a little nervous when they walked into the rooms where the big kids were. Most of the nursery rhymes were represented: Queen of Hearts, Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater and his wife, Rub a Dub Dub Three Men in a Tub, Three Little Kittens--you name it!!! After parading through the school, twenty five and six year olds walked through the streets of Macon visiting various businesses and city hall so all the hard working folks in Macon could see the nursery rhyme parade! Reese was one tired little girl after all that walking, but I think she had a ball. They even went to the nursing home to visit the residents, and Reese said that she and Bryce (aka Jack) said their nursery rhyme first! I wish I could have been there, but a couple of the moms that 'chaperoned' told me that they got some pictures for me; that helps make me feel like I was there.

Enjoy....

Easter 2009

Just wanted to get a few pictures from our Easter Sunday on the blog for some far away family to see.  One day I'll figure out how to use the automatic timer thingy on the camera so we can have a picture of our whole family, even if we don't have another person standing by to take it!  I wish my arms were long enough so that they'd stretch so that I could take the picture AND be in it at the same time!

the wind was a blowin' this morning before church--this picture would be even better if their hair wasn't all in their faces!
(Maggie, Reese, and Anna)

Daddy and his girls
Warren looked SO nice this morning (not that he usually doesn't) but he looked oh so spiffy on this beautiful Easter Sunday

Mommy and the girls
Anna just wasn't in a cooperative mood when I was on this side of the camera.  Wonder why?

A family shot--more casual than what I had wanted, but one of the whole family nevertheless!

the girls and their Uncle Boo (Warren's little brother).
He was able to come over for lunch with BopBop and DamDam.  We haven't seen him in a while and the girls were so excited about him being able to visit with us for a little while!

Our Newest Addition

Our family has expanded!!!!!  We adopted a sweet little dog from the Starkville shelter on Saturday.  We have been looking for a dog for a few months now, and we were thinking of getting a full blooded, pure breed dog.   One thing that kept us from that is that they are SO incredibly expensive, and while we would have loved to have had a yorkie or some other small dog, the thought of spending THAT much money when we have so many other financial responsibilities, we thought that a shelter dog would be much better.  Considering that many shelter dogs are strays or ones that have been surrendered, we decided to go that route and give a dog a much needed home.

We were able to play with our new dog outside in the fenced in yard.  If you're looking to adopt a dog, I highly recommend the shelter in Starkville (the workers aren't the most friendly of folks, but the facilities are great).  There is a fenced in area where the dogs can run around and play.  Reese found our dog first and he was the first one that she asked to take outside.  We didn't have to take out anymore; the girls fell in love with him.  His shelter name was "Maple."  He was picked up on Maple Street in Starkville, so we were the ones to give this sweet dog his 'real' name.  We decided on Max!   The girls called him that all the way home and got so irritated with me when I'd call him Maxie Pooh!  (I guess that feminized him too much!)  He's a true Heinz 57, but we love him anyway!!!

Just thought I'd share some pictures of ol' Max!

Maggie stretched herself in this position most of the way home so she could pet Max.  They were all worried about him.  We kept telling him that he'd have to get used to us, and bless his heart, we sure are  A LOT to get used to! :)

Riding home--he was so nervous.  But I guess I can't blame him considering that fact that he'd been wandering around town to being in a shelter to being adopted by our crazy family!

Pure Joy!!!!
