PARTY PICS!!!

Wanted to share some pictures from Reese's birthday party!  We had it at Skate Zone here in town, and I think it was a pretty good party, considering that kids just don't seem to "know" how to roller skate like I did when I was little.  This was the first time that most of Reese's friends had ever been on skates, so needless to say it was a real experience!

the birthday girl!!! how big & grown up she looks!

blowing out the 6 candle.

She had said she wanted a princess or Barbie cake, but when the time came to make a choice, she picked Wall-E and Eve! :)  We were worried that when she saw it, she'd be upset that it wasn't princess/Barbie, but it turned out great and she loved it, which is what it's all about, right?

Reese & Eason

I cannot tell you how much she loves Eason.  They're not in school together this year, and even though she's met new people, I think it's been a big adjustment for her.  For the last two years, we've gotten used to seeing Eason (and Alex and Ariana three days a week).  But friends are friends forever!

Baboo and Reese

I LOVE this picture of my little bro and my little girl!  She loves her Baboo bunches, too.  Thanks for coming Rich; she was so happy you were there (and I was, too).  Ang, we missed you but totally understand how you can't be everywhere at one time!  Can't wait to see you though!  Love you both!!!

Whatddaya Think?

Of the new look?  Too much?  Warren just can't seem to get away from the pink, can he?

Out of the Mouths of Babes

I wanted to "write" this down so that I would never forget it.

On our drive to school everyday, we pass several pastures/farms with animals.  We see goats, cows, horses among other animals to and from school.  Well, on Tuesday, as we were riding, I noticed a dead animal in a ditch in front of one of the pastures.  I thought it may have been a dog at first, but it seemed a bit large for a dog.  Then I thought that it may have been a deer, but upon closer inspection, it was still too big for a deer.  Once we got right up on it did I realize that it was a cow!  I'm guessing that it may have gotten out of the pasture somehow and may have been struck by a car or maybe it was sick--don't know.

Anyway, I made the mistake of saying out loud, "that's a dead cow."  No sooner had I gotten those words out of my mouth did Maggie begin sobbing.  She was SO sad about the cow.  She asked me why it died, and that just about broke my heart.  She was really worried about him (or her).  I told her that the cow may have just been sick and needed to go to heaven.  (hey, it was 7 am and I couldn't think of anything better!)  She seemed to be calming a little when (and this is the BEST part and hence the title of this post) my sweet ol' Anna who often times isn't as quick witted as Mags proceeds to say, "It's okay Maggie.  Maybe one of those other cows knocked him over!"

I couldn't help but be amused by that.  Here I have one child distraught over the death of this poor animal and another child coming up with something so funny (but at the same time trying to comfort her little sister---which is so strange because ever since the day those babies were born, Anna (who is a minute older) has always been more of the baby.  Maggie is usually our re-assurer who makes it all okay.  Warren says that Anna is turning into such the little mama!)

The Birthday Girl!

I haven't had a lot of time to blog about Reese's birthday! YIKES! I'm such a slacker! :)
at Santa Fe the night of her birthday!! See the spot on her nose? A few days before, she fell on the sidewalk while walking to computer class! She even had a huge goose egg on her forehead, too. Grace in action!
Her official birthday was January 26, and it became painfully clear to me on that day that she is no longer a baby but a little girl! She has grown up so much (not to mention so fast!); it's just amazing to realize that six years of her little life have already gone by.

We told her that we would take her out to eat for supper the night of her birthday. My parents and grandparents always took the whole family out to eat whenever any one of us had a birthday. So I'm hoping we'll start that tradition in our family, too. She chose to go to Santa Fe Steakhouse, and had it not been her birthday, we probably would have protested a lot more than we had. We just haven't had a whole lot of luck there lately, and her birthday night wasn't any different. Bad bad service; not really great food--you know.
But, Reese wanted to go there, so we couldn't really argue. We gave her a small present that night--a new outfit for the spring. She was a lot more excited about it than I thought she would be. She's ready to wear it now; I am ready for her to wear it too, simply because that means the weather is no longer freezing!!!

We had her birthday party on Saturday at the skating rink in town. Pretty much ALL of her classmates from school made the trip from Macon to be at her party. That meant so much to me because I was worried that they would be like me and just be too tired to make an "extra" trip on the weekend. I think the kids all had a good time, and I know Reese did, and that's all that matters.
